Biography – as of July 2010
David Peek has lived in Rockwall County for 12 years.
He was born and raised in South Texas and entered the United States Military Academy at West Point one month after his High School graduation. Following 7 years of active duty service, David continued to serve in the United States Army Reserve for an additional six years.
After working for eight years with three large metroplex area companies, David launched the Rockwall County Enterprise in February 2007. Committed to reporting “traditional news” based on the principles of “who, what, when, where, why and how,” David saw the need for Rockwall County-based news and information from a conservative viewpoint.
David is married to the former Kristy Mays of Frisco and together they have five young children, Nathaniel, Samuel, Hettie, Katie-Beth, and Daniel.
David’s recent community involvement includes past president of the Rockwall County Republican Men’s Club; Member and Deacon, First Baptist Church, Rockwall; Member, Ambassador and Board Member of the Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce; Member, Building Better Roads Committee; and the Service Academy Candidate Selection Committee, Office of Congressman Ralph Hall.
In 2010, David ran unopposed for the office of Rockwall County Treasurer and is scheduled to take office on January 1, 2011. David plans to work full time as the County Treasurer with the duties of managing the day to day operations of his newspaper delegated to his Managing Editor.
